Abstract:: Ellen McCarter Doubleday was the wife of Nelson Doubleday (1889-1949), president of the publishing firm Doubleday & Company, and daughter of Thomas N. McCarter (Princeton Class of 1888), president of the Public Service Co. of New Jersey and a Princeton University benefactor. After her husband's death, she served on the board of directors of Doubleday until she moved to Hawaii in 1965. Papers consist of personal and business correspondence of Ellen McCarter Doubleday.
