Abstract:: Mary Cushing (Howard) Niles (1900-1993) was a pioneer in the field of personnel management, and her husband, Henry E. Niles (1900-1993), was a management executive. Both were active in Quaker concerns. This collection includes formal portraits of family members, career-related pictures, travel photos, family photos, photos of family friends, and miscellaneous photos, along with slides and negatives.

Abstract:: The scrapbook of the Friends' Institute includes materials related to the Friends' Institute for Young Men, particularly for the lectures and events of the organization. Also included are the annual reports of the board of managers.

Abstract:: This collection contains a 1948 copy of George Fox's 'Book of Miracles' as well as various corresponding items. This includes a letter from Douglas G. Lister to Henry J. Cadbury, multiple letters from Janet F. Rice of the Cambridge University Press Subsidiary Rights Department confirming that Cadbury will recieve two complimentary copies of the reprinted book once published in 1973, a letter directly from Octagon Books's Editor-In-Chief Henry G. Schlanger, and many more materials related to Henry J. Cadbury and/or George Fox. This collection also contains a revised list of Haverford Meeting attendees and members in 1898 by Mary Rhoads Garrett, and an 1881 copy of "How To Enter Into Rest."

Abstract:: The collection consists primarily of lively letters by Joseph Mendenhall, a Quaker bachelor, to his cousin. They are written from Lawrence, Kansas, between 1882 and 1903, on topics ranging from Quaker ministers, the possibility of less plainness in meetinghouses, and many details about episodes in his or others' lives.

Abstract:: The personal correspondence included in the Sharpless family letterbook acted as a circulating "family letter," and was added to by each family member with the goal of assembling the letters at the end of the year and binding them together for the use of future generations. Letters generally provide news of each letter writer, as well as comments on past letters. Letter writers include Susanna F. Sharpless, Edith Sharpless, Thomas Sharpless, Elizabeth S. Smedley, Ann Sharpless, William Sharpless, and Susanna Sharpless.

Abstract:: The manuscript of George A. Barton, entitled "The Boston Broad Brim," appears to be satirical in nature, and, according to the introduction supplied by the manuscript, "The Boston Broad Brim is published Semi-Occasionally for the benefit of the Boston Meeting. It is the official organ of the Whittier Association," and was previously called the "Highland Hall News, and was a weekly paper." This volume provides a brief satirical history of Quakers, particularly their move from Switzerland to the United States, the "Eighth Idyll of Theocrates," "The Miracle" translated from German, and a story called "The Hoag Surprise Party."
