Abstract:: This collection consists of two parts: records of the alumnae association in the period of Mercy Hospital and records of the organization under its present name. It complements the Mercy-Douglass Hospital records (MC 78) in that the latter are exclusively hospital and school records organically created before the hospital closed in 1973. The alumnae association collection contains historical accounts of the hospital and the school as prepared by the alumni, minutes of alumni meetings, programs of various kinds of activities the association sponsored, newsletters, correspondence, clippings, and material the association collected of other organizations.

Abstract:: Frankford Hospital was chartered in 1903 by doctors Joseph Ball and Charles P. Brady to serve as a community hospital in the Frankford area of Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The hospital grew quickly, expanding to meet the needs of neighborhoods in Northeast Philadelphia through the additions of a maternity wing, a modern emergency room, expanded laboratory facilities, and two additional locations in Torresdale and Bucks County. In 2009, Frankford Hospital changed its name to Aria Health to better reflect its expanded, regional services in Northeast Philadelphia and Bucks County. As of 2015, Aria Health is the largest healthcare provider in Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County. The Frankford Hospital records, circa 1918-1990s, consist primarily of photographs, but also contain letters and memos, annual reports, and various other materials relating to Frankford Hospital.

Abstract:: This collection documents the academic work of Karen Buhler-Wilkerson (1944-2010), a Registered Nurse, Professor of Community Health, Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, historian, author, and co-creator of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing's Living Independently for Elders program (LIFE). The collection is categorized into three general series of materials: School of Nursing, Programs, and Teaching. Together, they offer insight into her academic work, particularly her teaching, historical research, and Buhler-Wilkerson's interest in the LIFE program.
