Abstract:
Built in 1767 in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cliveden served as the home of the Chew family for over 200 years and played a key role in the Revolutionary War Battle of Germantown in 1777. In 1972, the estate was donated by the family to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, becoming Cliveden of the National Trust. Cliveden of the National Trust records, 1809-2015 (bulk 1972-2015), consist of materials that document the administration of Cliveden of the National Trust as a historic site, and include administrative files, collection records, reference files, archeological files, buildings and grounds files, program files, grant files, National Trust for Historic Preservation files, board files, education files, Education Director files, oversized materials, audio and visual materials, and other documents.

Mark Robinson slides and photographs, circa 1955

Abstract:
Mark Robinson (1906-1965) was an electrical engineer and naturalist who lived in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Especially interested in entomology, mineralogy, wildflowers, and ferns, Robinson served as a curator at the Delaware County Institute of Science (Media, PA), research associate in the department of insects at the Academy of Natural Science (Philadelphia, PA), and president of the American Entomological Society (1947-1948). Mark Robinson slides and photographs, circa 1955, consist of nine binders with photograph and slide images of botanical specimens in the wild, such as plants, trees, and flowers (especially orchids); historic sites and monuments; birds and other animals; transportation; and other subjects.

Haverford Township is a suburb of Philadelphia situated near the wealthy "Main Line" west of the city. It encompasses the community of Havertown and parts of Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Drexel Hill, and Wynnewood in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The Haverford Township Historical Society photograph collection, 1895-2014, depicts the people, buildings, and scenery of Haverford Township (Delaware County, Pennsylvania). Buildings, especially historic sites, are particularly well represented, but there are also family photographs and photographs of other subjects.

Benjamin R. Hoffman papers on the Grange estate, 1906-circa 1983

Abstract:
Benjamin Rose Hoffman (1879-1958) and his wife Margaret Clawson (1891-1973) were wealthy Philadelphians who largely lived a life of leisure. In 1913 Benjamin Hoffman purchased the Grange, an historic estate in Havertown, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, that was built in 1700 and hosted several Revolutionary War heroes including George Washington. He and his wife were interested in horticulture and made many improvements to the gardens and grounds during their lifetimes. The Benjamin R. Hoffman papers on the Grange estate, 1906-circa 1983, consist primarily of correspondence and receipts regarding gardening and planting on the Grange, as well as blueprints, research notes, and other materials relating to the property, dating from the early-mid 20th century. Construction of large housing developments started at the end of the 1970s. The Historical Society of Hilltown Township local history collection, 1790-2012, consists of various primary-source materials that document Hilltown Township individuals, families, businesses, and properties. These include deeds, personal papers relating to some of the first families of Hilltown, materials relating to area schools, historic site survey forms, photographs, and records of local businesses and organizations.

Colonial Dames Stenton records, 1898-2000 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Stenton is an historic site administered by The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1899. James Logan erected this example of early Georgian architecture between 1723 and 1730 in what was countryside in Philadelphia County but is now part of the City of Philadelphia, near the neighborhood of Germantown. Logan had come to Philadelphia with William Penn in 1699 as his secretary, and for the rest of his life remained the Penn family’s representative in the colony and was at the center of Pennsylvania’s political life. The Colonial Dames Stenton records, 1898-2013, document the Dames administration of Stenton as an historic site.
