Abstract:
The Patriotic Order of Americans was the ladies' auxiliary to the Patriotic Order Sons of America, patriotic fraternal organization founded in Philadelphia in 1847. Patriotic Order of Americans, Camp 90 and Camp 168 records, 1911-1981, consists of administrative records, correspondence, and ephemera. Most records are from Camp #90 (Tylersport, Pennsylvania), but there are also three minute books from Camp #168 (Green Lane, Pennsylvania).

Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Phoenixville lodges records, 1847-1974 (inclusive)

Abstract:
An altruistic and benevolent fraternal organization, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) was originally organized in England in the 18th century. Established in the United States in 1819, it was the first national fraternity to include both men and women (beginning in 1851). Branches of the I.O.O.F. were started in Phoenixville, Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1847. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Phoenixville lodges records, 1847-1974, document the Phoenixville iterations of the I.O.O.F. over a 125-year period. The collection includes records of Phoenix Lodge No. 212, Phoenix Encampment No. 79, Adelaide Rebekah Lodge No. 42 (women's auxiliary), and the local Three Link Club (junior division). Minutes form the largest portion of the collection, but there are also membership records, financial records, ephemera, and other related materials.

Abstract:
The Drexel Evening College was founded in 1891, as the Department of Lectures and Evening Classes within the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry, and held its first classes in 1892. A program of study geared towards working adults, it offered courses in drawing, decorative painting, modeling, woodcarving, stained glass, mathematics, bookkeeping, stenography and typewriting, chemistry, physics, shop work in wood and iron, cookery, dressmaking, millinery, physical culture, economics, English and architecture. Since its inception, the Evening College has undergone significant academic, administrative and physical transformations, adapting to accommodate an ever changing student body as well as administrative and academic agendas. This collection documents those changes as well as the more general administrative, academic, and social activities of the College from 1921 to 1993. The Patriotic Order Sons of America was organized by Dr. Reynell Coates of Philadelphia, PA on December 10, 1847. The purpose of the organization was to educate young men about American ideals and inspire them to uphold and defend the "American way of life."
