Abstract:: The Zelosophic Society was formed in October 1829 as a response to the Philomathean Society, an exclusive literary society formed on campus in 1813. The records of the Zelosophic Society of the University of Pennsylvania are a rich source for documenting the creative energies of university students for part of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Abstract:: Leo Yanoff was a member of the University of Pennsylvania's Class of 1930. He later went to Harvard Law School where he earned an L.L.B. in 1933 and became a judge of the Essex County (N.J.) Superior Court. These letters were written by Leo Yanoff to his parents between September and November 1927 and document his thoughts during his first months as a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania
