Abstract:: This collection consists of nine images which, to a very limited degree, document indigenous people of the Acomoa Pueblo, Apache, Hopi, Laguna Pueblo, and Navaho tribes in the American southwest, in current day Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Images are of peublos and people (including Juanita, widow of Chief Manuelito; unidentified women; Hopi dancers preparing for the Snake Dance; and unidentified people preparing horses for travel). The identity of the photographer and whether they were documenting the indigenous culture or traveling as a tourist is unknown.

Abstract:: This collection documents the history of land ownership for the block in center city Philadelphia that is currently occupied by the Curtis Building, which is bounded by South 6th and South 7th Streets, and Sansom and Walnut Streets. There are 107 land deeds or indentures, and 23 other records of various sorts that document the sale, purchase, or transfer of property from 1794 to 1908 within this block. The oldest document is an indenture for the entire plot from James Logan, Jr. to John Swanwick, on December 31, 1794. The most recent document is a 1908 survey of the same plot, likely made for the Curtis Publishing Company by the City of Philadelphia. The majority are handwritten on vellum and are largely in good condition. Records are arranged chronologically.

Abstract:: The Philadelphia Orchestra was founded in 1900, and has developed and maintained its status as a prominent symphonic ensemble throughout its existence. Its history informs and intersects with the broader history of music in the twentieth century, as well as numerous historical movements, events and developments on a regional, national and global scale. The records of The Philadelphia Orchestra Association document its activities from 1900 to 2023 through administrative records, concert programs, photographs, scrapbooks and audio and visual recordings. This collection is not fully processed. While materials listed here have been processed and are available for research, a significant portion of the collection, labeled "unavailable," remains in process and cannot be consulted at this time. As soon as additional portions of the collection are completed they will be made available via additions to this finding aid. The last addition of completed materials occurred on October 26, 2023.

Abstract:: William Wait (1821-1880) was a lawyer and an author of a number of legal texts pertaining to the law in New York. His last will and testament allowed for the continuation of the publication and sale of the law books for which he had copyright until his youngest son turned 21 in 1889. This collection contains information about the legacy of Wait's copyrighted works following his death in 1880.

Abstract:: Thomas Hart (1894-1975) was a Philadelphia lawyer and civic figure. The Thomas Hart papers measure 15.33 linear feet in 16 boxes, date mostly from 1893 to 1971, and primarily consist of correspondence, documents, and ephemera relating to Hart and his family's organizational involvements, specifically with the Eagle Island Gunning Club, Junior League, Lankenau Hospital, Mask & Wig Club, Philadelphia Charity Ball, Inc., Philadelphia Club, Society of Colonial Wars, and State in Schuylkill. There is also Hart's personal correspondence, material relating to his personal life, and material from various members of the Hart family.

Abstract:: The Dana Richardson collection of Constant Vauclain material contains sheet music, audio cassettes, essays, notes and analysis of music, correspondence, newspaper clippings, event programs, photographs, poetry and lyrics. Andre Constant Vauclain (1908-2003) was a composer and professor of music who developed a new system of composition that he called, "syntonality." Dana Dimitri Richardson (1953-), is a composer and music theorist who studied under Constant Vauclain from 1971 to 1976.

Abstract:: This volume contains 61 culinary, medicinal, and household recipes as well as a food diary from a vacation in Switzerland written and compiled in England and Switzerland by E. Macey between 1864 and 1910.
