Abstract:
This collection contains the papers of the Darlington family of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and Woodstown, New Jersey. Quakers with strong ties to Swarthmore College, the family was involved in education, social and peace concerns, and businesses in the Philadelphia area. Charles J. Darlington (1894-1966) served as Clerk of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends during the reunification of the two Philadelphia Yearly Meetings. The collection includes family correspondence relating to the Darlington, Shortlidge, Gause, and Palmer families as well as genealogical research and 20th century Quaker activities.

Rosalie Regen Papers, 1856-1993 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Rosalie Stork Regen (1909-1993) was a Quaker author and playwright who joined the Rahway and Plainfield Monthly Meeting in 1941. She was the daughter of Charles Wharton Stork and Elisabeth von Pausinger Stork. An active member of the Society of Friends, Rosalie taught First Day School and visited Quakers all over the world. The collection includes journals kept continuously from 1936 to the time of her death in 1993. She also maintained a prodigious correspondence with family and friends. Includes drafts of her writings, some of which were published: "Peaceful Heroes," a collection of plays, in 1962, and "Forever in Joy," a book of poetry, in 1974.

Stackhouse Family Papers, 1804-1951 (inclusive) 1820-1916 (bulk) (bulk)

Abstract:
The Stackhouse family was a Pennsylvania and New Jersey Quaker family with roots in the earliest settlement of America. The papers include diaries, ledgers, correspondence and other family papers and voluminous genealogical research conducted by Powell Stackhouse, Jr. They were united by the descendants of two sons of Amos and Mary (Powell) Stackhouse who shared an interest in family history. Powell Stackhouse, Jr., (1827-1900) was a real estate lawyer and conveyancer who pursued a "scientific" method of genealogical research in the 1890s. His cousin, Dr. Asa Matlack Stackhouse (1845-1916) also was interested in publishing a family genealogy, a project that was assumed but not completed by his son, William R. Stackhouse. Of special interest are family letters including a group which concerns Sharon Boarding School in Darby, Pennsylvania, and a small number of account books and diaries.

Sharpless-Reeve family papers, 1852-1957 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The collected papers of the Sharpless and Reeve family of New Jersey and Philadelphia. Much of the correspondence is between Edward Sharpless (1831-1894), a New Jersey Quaker minister, and his sister, Anna N. Sharpless, who married John Newbold Reeve in 1857. Their daughter, Mary Offley Reeve, worked as a school teacher when young and became involved in temperance and evangelical Christianity. She shared these interests, reflected in diaries and other writings, with Annie Way Smith, a long-time friend and member of Fishertown Monthly Meeting. The collection illustrates Quaker responses to early twentieth century social and religious trends.

Abstract:
William Booth married Elizabeth M. Broomall in 1841. Their son, George M. Booth, was born in 1851 and married Ellen Miller, daughter of Lewis and Ann McIlvaine Miller in 1876. Their daughter, Elizabeth Martin Booth, married Robert Emerson Lamb of Baltimore in 1908 at Chester, Pa. The collection contains correspondence (1821-1963), diaries and journals (1833-1905), albums, legal and financial papers, photographs, genealogical and biographical materials, and miscellaneous memorabilia of the Lamb, Booth, Miller, and related families primarily of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Includes correspondence of Sarah B. Miller while she was travelling in Europe in 1846, William and Elizabeth M. Booth, 1833-1882, Sarah B. Flitcraft, 1856-1917, Isaac L. and Clara B. Of particular interest is the journal of their granddaughter, Anna C. Richardson, written on her trip to California in 1904, and the writings of Sarah Cooper.
