Abstract:: The Philadelphia Sketch Club, founded in 1860, is America's oldest club for artists. Philadelphia Sketch Club records, 1860-2012, contains minute books, treasurer's reports, ledgers, receipts, dues books, membership applications, exhibition planning materials and catalogs, photographs, and many other records of the organization. A highlight of the collection is a box of Philadelphia Sketch Club member Christmas cards, most featuring original artwork, circa 1920-2004.

Abstract:: Sherman Clark Hoeflich (1913-1977) was a Philadelphia-based artist, art educator, and designer, who also worked in advertising as an art director. He lived in Paris from 1960 to 1965, and exhibited his work in Philadelphia, Paris, London, and elsewhere. Hoeflich was good friends with Howard Alber, a fellow artist, who worked as a graphic designer and opened an art gallery in Philadelphia in the 1960s. The Howard Alber collection on Sherman Hoeflich, circa 1940-circa 1996, consists mostly of secondary-source materials relating to Hoeflich, but also includes several of his original artworks on paper (watercolor, graphite, and other media).

Abstract:: The Thornton Oakley collection of Howard Pyle and his students covers the influential artistic career of Howard Pyle and several of his students, most notably Maxfield Parrish, Violet Oakley, and N.C. Wyeth. The collection includes a wide range of materials, which was collected and assembled by Pyle’s former student Thornton Oakley. There are tear sheets of artwork published in magazines, original illustrations, photographs, research notes, manuscripts, and correspondence. Besides Howard Pyle, artists well represented in this collection include Elizabeth Shippen Green, Jessie Wilcox Smith, George Harding, Violet Oakley, N.C. Wyeth, and a large collection of material on Maxfield Parrish. There is also a series dedicated to the children’s author and art historian, Henry Clarence Pitz, who researched and wrote The Brandywine Tradition about Pyle and his artistic influence. Abstract:: Albert LeCoff (born 1950) is a co-founder and the Executive Director of The Center for Art in Wood (formerly known as the Wood Turning Center) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since the mid 1970s, Albert has worked to promote the art of woodturning, woodworking, and the artists involved in these pursuits through developing programs at the Center, organizing conferences and exhibitions across the United States, and lecturing internationally. The Albert LeCoff early records of the Center for Art in Wood, 1982-2008, consist largely of slides of artworks and other materials that pertain to exhibitions, conferences, and symposia. To a lesser extent there are administrative and publicity materials relating to the early administration of the Center; photographs; printed materials; ephemera; and correspondence.

Abstract:: Woodmere Art Museum, located in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was officially established in 1940 through the will of Philadelphia businessman, civic leader, and art collector, Charles Knox Smith (1845-1916) and is dedicated to Philadelphia-area artists. The building, grounds, and core of the museum's permanent collection were gifts of Smith, who purchased the Woodmere estate in 1898 and renovated it to better display his collection. As of 2016, Woodmere Art Museum boasts a number of indoor and outdoor spaces, in which it hosts various exhibitions, programs, art classes, lectures, performances, and other special events throughout the year.
