Abstract:: Taller Puertorriqueño is a community based cultural organization that was established by Puerto Rican and Latino artists and activists in the North Kensington area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1974. It's purpose is to preserve, develop, and promote Puerto Rican and Latino arts and culture, with the belief that embracing one's cultural heritage is central to community empowerment. As of 2016, Taller Puertorriqueño continues to elevate and preserve Puerto Rican and Latino culture through its arts and cultural programs. The Taller Puertorriqueño collection, circa 1940s-2000s (bulk 1960s-2000s), consists largely of publications, periodicals, printed matter, and research materials; photographs, slides, VHS cassettes, and audio recordings; and other materials. Of special interest are records from Taller Puertorriqueño, records from oral history projects conducted by Taller Puertorriqueño, transcriptions for some of the oral history recordings, and some photographs from Jack Delano.

Abstract:: Woodmere Art Museum, located in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was officially established in 1940 through the will of Philadelphia businessman, civic leader, and art collector, Charles Knox Smith (1845-1916) and is dedicated to Philadelphia-area artists. The building, grounds, and core of the museum's permanent collection were gifts of Smith, who purchased the Woodmere estate in 1898 and renovated it to better display his collection. As of 2016, Woodmere Art Museum boasts a number of indoor and outdoor spaces, in which it hosts various exhibitions, programs, art classes, lectures, performances, and other special events throughout the year.
