Howard Pusey lantern slides, circa 1884-1909, consist of over six hundred images depicting various locations in the United States, Canada, Egypt, Europe, and the Middle East. The images are primarily of scenery, buildings, and sculpture, but there are some portraits and other images featuring people.

Charles and John D. Fridy lantern slides, circa 1920-1940

Abstract:
Charles Duhring Friday (1910-2004) was a civil engineer and architect who worked as a draftsman and designer in a number of firms during the 1930s and 1940s with his brother, John D. Fridy, until they formed their own partnership in 1947. The Charles and John D. Fridy lantern slides, circa 1920-1940, consist of about 215 lantern slides, most of which are hand colored, primarily depicting images from vacations taken by Fridy and his brother, John. The collection is organized into five series based on location: I. Washington D.C. and Virginia; II. New Jersey; III. Florida; IV. Pennsylvania and Maryland; V. Lancaster Research Laboratories (Hackensack, New Jersey). An application to the Kodak Correspondence College is also present in the collection.

Ryerss family papers, 1758-1931 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Waln family were prominent Philadelphia Quakers who made a fortune in the 18th-century China Trade and descended from the original Pennsylvania settler Nicholas Waln. Joseph Waln Ryerss built Burholme as his summer house in 1859, and upon his death he left it to his son, Robert Waln Ryerss (1831-1896). Robert Waln Ryerss was a lawyer. He scandalized Philadelphia society by marrying his housekeeper, Mary Ann Reed, eight months before his death. Mary Ann remarried, and spent the rest of her life traveling to collect items for the museum now located in Ryerss' mansion. The Ryerss family papers, 1758-1931, contain documents, photographs, and volumes. Most of the collection relates to Robert W. Ryerss, his Waln antecedents, or his wife Mary Ann Reed (later Bawn).

James and Lorah families papers, 1833-1954 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Oliver P. James (1815-1894) was a prominent doctor and community member in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He, his wife Sarah (1824-1906), and their three children Oliver (1860-1890), Martha (1862-1918), and Sarah (1864-1954) lived at what is now known as the James-Lorah Memorial Home at 132 N. Main Street in Doylestown. In 1896, Dr. James' daughter, Martha, married George H. Lorah (1863-1945), a minister at the Doylestown Methodist Episcopal Church. Martha's sister, Sarah James was a charter member of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown (VIA), and upon her passing in 1954, the family home and its contents and property, as well as a trust fund for maintenance were bequeathed to the VIA. The James and Lorah families papers, 1833-1954, consist of original manuscript documents from the James and Lorah families, primarily Dr. Oliver P. James T. Caulfield and Rafael A. Suarez papers, 1918-1985 (inclusive) 1944-1985 (bulk)

Abstract:
Dr. Rafael A. Suarez and James T. Caulfield, known as "The Philamigos," traveled throughout South America in the 1950s-1980s, operated a learning center in Philadelphia, and were prominent members of the Philadelphia LGBT community. The James T. Caulfield and Rafael A. Suarez papers, 1918-1985, extensively document their works, including the Philamigos Institute of Learning, their travels abroad, and Caulfield's experience as a gay soldier during World War II. The collection contains correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, ephemera, over a dozen 16-mm films, and stamps/correspondence regarding philately.

Herbert "Herb" Melvin Spence was a musician and music teacher who retired from the School District of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1986. The Herbert Spence papers, 1966-1989, is made up largely of printed sheet music, musical education texts, and slides of Spence's travels abroad. There is only a small amount of personal papers, such as Spence's notes on music history, diplomas and plaques he received, programs for student recitals and other performances, and photographs of children in his classes, of Spence himself, and of famous African American musicians.

Marriott C. Morris (1863-1948) was a resident of the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who attended Haverford College. He was an avid cyclist and accomplished photographer. The Marriot C. Morris collection on cycling, 1881-1980 (bulk 1881-1897), consists of materials that Morris collected regarding cycling and cycling organizations, including various published materials and ephemera. The collection also contains scrapbooks, photographs, journal entries from cycling trips taken by Morris, including a trip to Europe, and other materials.
