Abstract:: Michael J. Donovan is a resident of Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and U.S. Coast Guard veteran who for the past 50 or so years, has researched Newtown's history during times of war, particularly Newtown veterans. Mike Donovan research on Newtown during wartime, 1870-2013 (bulk 1960-2013), consists of primarily secondary-source materials, such as narrative histories (many written by Donovan), research notes, newspaper clippings, and copies of original documents and photographs with a fair amount of primary-source documents that Donovan acquired from the families of veterans, such as photographs and letters.

Abstract:: Newtown, the county seat of Bucks County from 1726 to 1813, is one of the most historic areas in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Newtown Historic Association legal documents, circa 1690-1964, consist of original deeds, leases and releases and other legal documents. Particular properties and buildings are significantly documented, including Allen's Mill, 1787-1964. Of special interest is a 1692 deed on rag paper with an original 17th century jester watermark.

Abstract:: George F. Parry (1838-1886) of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was one of the first veterinarians (and probably the first from Pennsylvania) to receive professional veterinary training in the United States. He graduated from the Boston Veterinary Institute in 1859, served as a veterinary surgeon with the 7th Pennsylvania Cavalry during the Civil War, and owned a farm and conducted a private practice in Newtown, Pennsylvania, from shortly after the war until his death at age 48. George married Sarah E. Hough and the couple had two children. This collection of volumes from the Parry family consists mostly of personal diaries written by George F. Parry dating from the 1860s to the 1880s. Additionally, there is a notebook that he kept while attending the Boston Veterinary Institute and a ledger of his business transactions during the 1870s.
