Abstract:: Jacob Stoll Geller (1846-1916), a retail merchant, public official, and prominent Mason, founded and operated Geller's Emporium, a wholesale department store in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. By the late 19th century, the emporium came to serve as the largest retailer in the North Penn area of Montgomery County. After Geller passed away in 1916, his business was briefly carried on by his family though its success diminished considerably. The bulk of Jacob S. Geller business and estate records, 1888-1936, is invoices for goods purchased by Jacob S. Geller and, later, the Jacob Geller estate. Also included are incoming business correspondence to Jacob S. Geller and estate financial records.

Abstract:: Lansdale, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania became a boom town during the mid-19th century when a junction of the North Pennsylvania Railroad was established where the center of the town is now located. The Borough of Lansdale was incorporated on August 24, 1872. This collection, which documents the history of Lansdale, its organizations, and residents, consists of various scrapbooks, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, photograph albums, deeds, letters, primary source documents relating to particular organizations, and other miscellaneous materials.

Abstract:: Founded in 1873, the Knights of the Golden Eagle is a fraternal organization with rituals based on those of the Crusaders with emphasis placed on the word of the Bible. In addition to giving moral and intellectual guidance, the society provides relief to sick or unemployed members and gives survivor benefits to widows and orphans. The Lansdale, Pennsylvania chapter of the Knights of the Golden Eagle, Castle No. 244, was established in 1888. The Knights of the Golden Eagle, Castle No. 244 (Lansdale, Pa.) minute books, 1888-1946, consist of eight volumes.

Abstract:: The First National Bank of Lansdale was chartered in 1864 with $100,000 in capital. On February 20, 1954, it was absorbed by the Philadelphia National Bank. The First National Bank of Lansdale ledger and discount books, 1864-1900, consist of one ledger with indexes, 1899-1900, and two discount books that cover the years 1864 to 1873.

Originally a for-profit company, it was replaced by the nonprofit Lansdale Cemetery Inc. in 1964/1965. The Lansdale Cemetery Association records, 1863-1947, are comprised of various materials that document the history of the Lansdale Cemetery Association and the Lansdale cemetery, including minute books, financial records, employee records, deeds, and wills.
