This collection consists of about 170 photographs, placed in an album, taken in India between 1930 and 1934 by an unidentified British soldier. Though the soldier is unknown, it is almost certain that he served in the Royal Fusiliers. The photographs in the album largely depict the every day life of British soldiers and their social activities, as well as providing evidence of British interest in Indian life and customs.

Abstract:
Two volumes comprised of 235 picture postcards compiled by an unnamed person, probably from Adelaide, South Australia. The postcards represent the compiler's journey throughout British occupied India spanning the years from 1907 to 1909. Twenty-eight postcards are of European cities. A majority of the postcards have handwritten commentary and remarks on the versos creating a postcard travel journal or diary.

Kathryn Hansen is a professor emerita in the Department of Asian studies at the University of Texas at Austin who specializes in South Asian languages and literatures (Hindi, Urdu, and Sanskrit); literary, cultural, and historical studies of South Asia; folk and classical performance of music and dance; history of theatrical practices in North India; early Indian film history; gender studies and feminist theory; and diaspora and ethnicity studies. This collection is comprised of chapbooks, studies and anthologies, and recordings related to Indian folk dramas and tales.
