- Abstract:
- The AIDS Working Group of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting began in 1992 as a response to the growing severity of the AIDS epidemic. The main focus of the group, organized under the title of "A Quaker Ministry to Persons With AIDS," was to visit those terminally ill with AIDS to provide solace, friendship, and spiritual counseling. The AIDS Working Group also organized the Quaker presence at the Philadelphia AIDS Walk and held retreats and seminars for caregivers of AIDS patients. The group was laid down on June 30, 2000.
