Savidge family papers, circa 1875-1970

Abstract:

Charles Savidge (1835-1908) married Sarah Hutchinson Morris (1864-1914), with whom he had two children: Morris Savidge (1895-1979) and Clarence Savidge (1900-1986). The family lived in Newtown (Bucks County, Pennsylvania), where they owned and operated Savidge Brothers retail store for over a century. The Savidge family papers, circa 1875-1970, consist mostly of personal papers, particularly relating to Morris and Clarence. The collection includes letters from Morris to his brother while the former was in military training and active duty in France during World War I as well as related photographs. Other materials in the collection include an album of funeral cards and calling cards/invitations, family photo albums, and some correspondence, financial papers, and ephemera relating to other family members.
