Abstract:
Elizabeth Gray Vining (1902-1999) was an author of children's books and served as the tutor to the crown prince of Japan, Akihito, from 1946 to 1950. The collection consists of correspondence, materials regarding books authored by Vining, articles, lectures and addresses, photographs, and information documenting her and her family's lives.

Abstract:
Gilbert MacMaster (1869-1967), a Quaker, was involved in charitable work in post-World War II Europe. The papers include his letters, photographs, and diary, which covers his and Margarethe Lachmund's (his wife) 30 years of service (1920-1950) with the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) child feeding mission in Germany, after World War I, as head of the Friends Center in Hamburg, during Hitler's rise to power, and as American Friends' representative in Basel, Switzerland, during World War II and later.

This collection contains the papers of the Young Friends Movement, dating between 1916 and 1997. Included in the collection are materials published by the Young Friends, including their montly newspaper "The Quake," correspondence between members, and the papers of Clarence Pickett, the former secretary of the Young Friends Movement and executive secretary of the American Friends Service Committee, both relating to his time with the Young Friends and his time with the AFSC.
