Abstract:: Charles F. Jenkins (1864-1951) was a prominent Quaker who was involved with Green Street Monthly Meeting, the American Friends Service Committee, the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (1919-1934), and Friends Intelligencer. He was also a Manager of Swarthmore College for 40 years and President of the Board from 1933 to 1944. He is also the author of "Tortola: A Quaker Experiment of Long Ago in the Tropics". This collection contains primarily lantern slides, both colored and black and white of CF Jenkins' trip to Tortola and the West Indies in 1913, along with some of Friends House London and other miscellaneous lantern slides.

Abstract:: This group of papers relating to the Thornton family, all copies, were made available to Harriet Frorer Durham, a Quaker writer who was working on a biography of Dr. William Thornton (1759-1828) of Philadelphia. William Thornton of England, Dr. Thorton's descendent, provided the papers. The collection contains genealogical material compiled for Dr. William Thornton and photocopies of business and legal papers (1673-1802).

Abstract:: Letter book of Thomas Chalkley (1675-1741), Quaker minister and businessman. Primarily business correspondence, most copied by his assistant, it also includes some personal references and provides insight into early 18th century maritime trade, particularly the Quaker relationships involved in trade with the West Indies.
