Abstract:: Hazel Marie Griffin was an Indologist and the head of the South Asian languages section of the Library of Congress. This collection contains typescripts of British primary source documents on India dating from the early to mid-19th century. The typescripts were created between 1977 and 1988 and consist of subjects ranging from sati to medicine with a focus on education.

Abstract:: Mark Jan Dresden (1911-1986) was a Dutch-American Iranist who studied Indology. He taught Persian and Old and Middle Iranian Languages at the University of Pennsylvania from 1949 until his retirement in 1977. Dresden's work on Khotanese, Persian and Iranian languages and texts is widely published. This collection, dating from 1930 to 1994 contains correspondence, ephemera, event files, lectures, financial documents, funding and grants files, project files, research and writing, and personal documents.

Abstract:: Incorporated by William Wagner (1796-1885) in 1855, the Wagner Free Institute of Science is a natural history museum and educational institution in Philadelphia that is dedicated to providing free public education in the sciences. The Annual Announcement was published every August from 1855 to 1927 and then from 1959 until the present. From 1927-1958, it was issued each year as no. 3 of the Bulletin of the Wagner Free Institute of Science. It is still being published and has been little changed over the years. The Annual Announcement generally includes a list of the trustees and faculty, the history of the Wagner Free Institute of Science, and a description of the types of instruction including specific lectures that were offered. The Annual Announcement of the Wagner Free Institute of Science collection contains copies of this publication from 1855 to 1927, 1959-2009. The collection is arranged chronologically.

The announcements provide information on the following: the date, time and location of the closing exercises, the person giving the introductory remarks and awarding the certificates, the person giving the lecture, and the title of the lecture. This collection provides a record of the lectures presented at the Closing Exercises of the Lecture Season, but no lectures or details of the event are contained within the collection.
