Abstract:: Paul H. Musser was promoted to Administrative Vice President of the University of Pennsylvania in July of 1939. During World War II, Musser held the important position as the chairman of the University Committee on National Defense which coordinated the University's war efforts. The Office of the Executive Vice President, Paul H. Musser Administration Records consist of documents, publications, and the correspondence of Musser with regard to the University of Pennsylvania and the Second World War, particularly in Musser's capacity of the chair of the University Committee on National Defense.

Abstract:: Dorothy Thomas was appointed a research professor of sociology at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1948, and was the first female professor in the Wharton School. While at the University, she was a co-director of the Study of Population Redistribution and Economic Growth from 1952 to 1959, research director of the Population Studies Center from 1959 to 1970, and co-director of Population Studies Center from 1964 to 1970. The Dorothy Swaine Thomas Papers primarily document her professional career in the fields of sociology and demography.

Abstract:: Michail M. Dorizas was an athlete, coach, educator, and traveler. He received his Ph.D. in 1924 from the University of Pennsylvania and taught economic and political geography at the Wharton School from 1919-1929 as an Instructor and from 1929-1957 as Assistant Professor. Correspondence between Mike Dorizas and Benjamin Rose Hoffman make up almost the entirety of this collection and cover topics such as wrestling and other sporting activities at the University of Pennsylvania, travel, service during World War I, and his early teaching career at the University.

Abstract:: Helen Octavia Dickens was the first female African American board-certified OB/GYN in Philadelphia a member faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. The Helen O. Dickens Papers document the latter half of Dickens' career in the field of medicine, medical education and public health. The collection contains correspondence, articles, reprints, grant proposals and some notes regarding Dickens' work in teenage pregnancy during the 1960s and 1970s which can be found in the Medical and Correspondence series.
