- Abstract:
- Makefield was one of the five original townships of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, established in 1692. It was divided into Lower Makefield and Upper Makefield in 1737. Largely agricultural for most of its history, Lower Makefield's population swelled with suburban development in the 20th century. The Lower Makefield Historical Society collection of oral histories, house histories, and scrapbooks, 1980-2009, includes audiocassette tapes, VHS tapes, narrative house histories, and photocopies of deeds, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other original items that document the local history of Lower Makefield Township.
