Edwin N. Benson (1840-1909) was a resident of Chestnut Hill and president of the Union League in Philadelphia. He built Lynnewood Hall. The Edwin N. Benson papers, 1885-1999, consist of seven scrapbooks about Lynnewood Hall; a site plan of Lynnebrook Road and print of Lynnewood Hall; three books; and additional miscellaneous items.

Lee Tire & Rubber Company records, 1890-1937 (inclusive)

Abstract:

J. Ellwood Lee was a prominent businessman in Conshohocken, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He manufactured medical supplies from 1883-1909, and then opened a rubber factory which continued to produce tires as "Lee of Conshohocken" until 1980. The Lee Tire & Rubber Company records, 1890-1937, includes records of J. Ellwood Lee's medical supply company, Lee Rubber & Tire Company, and some subsidiaries. Most of the records relate to finances, but there is a subsidiary's minute book and a small amount of administrative/legal materials as well.

Abstract:

The Grand Army of the Republic was a fraternal organization of Civil War veterans. A post in Conshocken, named in honor of George Smith, was organized in 1867. The George Smith Post No. 79, Grand Army of the Republic photographs and "Personal War Sketches" consist of about three-dozen photographs and one volume. The photographs are all identified portraits of Civil War veterans. In the volume of "Personal War Sketches," veterans recorded their mustering dates, rank, and sometimes personal narratives of their experiences.

Friends' Central School is a Quaker (Religious Society of Friends), co-educational, private school for children in nursery school through 12th grade. The school was established in 1845 in Center City Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to its current location on City Avenue in Wynnewood, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1925. The Friends' Central School records, 1785-2016 (bulk 1845-2016), consist of administrative and financial records, enrollment records, personal papers, school publications and ephemera, photographs, scrapbooks, slides, various audiovisual materials, objects and other materials from and relating to the administration, faculty and staff, students, and alumni of Friends' Central School.
