- Abstract:
- This album contains 337 examples of notgeld, or "emergency money" produced between 1916 and 1922 by various German municipalities, companies, and individuals during the financial crisis resulting from World War I. These currency notes are richly illustrated with depictions of landmarks, folklore, historical figures, and events. The notes are predominately serienscheine or "collectors notes" of distinctively high quality and include sets of notes that follow a particular theme or tale. The notes are all in excellent condition.
