Abstract:
Pennguinettes was organized in 1946 with eight woman students who swam once a year to entertain visitors to campus on High School Day. In 1953, it became an official athletic society under the auspices of the Women's Physical Education Department and the Women's Athletic Association. This small collection documents the history and development of Penn's women society specialized in synchronized swimming.

U.S. Army 20th General Hospital Records, 1932-1952 (inclusive) 1942-1945 (bulk)

Abstract:
In 1940 the United States Surgeon-General called upon the University of Pennsylvania to organize an overseas military hospital along the lines of the successful civilian Base Hospital No. 20 organized by the University in France during World War I. As a result, a Penn medical faculty committee organized the 20th General Hospital, a World War II medical facility which would operate in the Assam jungle region of northeast India on a scale and duration even greater than Penn's earlier wartime medical achievement in France. These records focus on the activities and medical research of the 20th General Hospital from the time of its deployment to Camp Claiborne in May of 1942 until the unit's disbandment at the end of World War II.

Ruth Branning Molloy, a poet, writer, photographer, and Philadelphia historian, enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania in 1926. After earning a B.S. in education from Penn, Ruth Branning went to work for The Philadelphia Inquirer. The Ruth Branning Molloy Papers mostly document Mrs. Molloy's life in West Philadelphia and her association with her alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania.

Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Records, 1862-2008 (inclusive) 2001-2006 (bulk)

Abstract:
To celebrate Benjamin Franklin's 300th birthday, which fell on January 17, 2006, five institutions in the Philadelphia area formed in 2000 an alliance named Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Consortium. The Consortium initiated a grand multifaceted and internationally-involving scenario for the celebration. The full name of the project is Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary, or "Ben Franklin 300, 1706-2006." This collection documents the organization, planning and operation of the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary from the time the BFT Consortium was established in 2000 till the project was wrapped up in mid 2008.

Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Board of Managers Records, 1874-1972 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania originated as part of the University's move to West Philadelphia. The school's Medical faculty and alumni petitioned the Board of Trustees for a University run hospital to provide clinical instruction for students. The Trustees agreed and formally established the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in June 1871. The Records document the administrative and financial history of the Hospital.
