Abstract:
Amelia Mott Gummere (1859-1937) was a noted writer on Quaker subjects. Her published works include The Quaker: a Study in Costume, 1901; The Journal and Essays of John Woolman, 1922; Witchcraft and Quakerism, 1908; and several other works. She was editor of the Bulletin of the Friends Historical Association and President of the John Woolman Association.

Byberry Library local history collection, 1682-2002 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The first meeting house for members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Byberry, Philadelphia was built in the 1690s. Byberry Monthly Meeting was formally established by Abington Quarterly Meeting out of Horsham Monthly Meeting in 1810, and is currently active as of 2011. At the heart of the Byberry Library local history collection are several dozen scrapbooks which are filled with secondary and primary materials relating to local history topics. The collection also includes deeds and real estate records, marriage certificates, numerous maps, and a number of genealogies of varying length. There are also records from several local businesses and schools, such as financial records, minutes, and other administrative records.

Abstract:
Concord Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania was incorporated in 1683, and includes the four villages of Concordville, Elam, Markham and Ward. Originally in Chester County, the township became part of Delaware County when Chester County was partitioned in 1789. The Concord Township Historical Society local history manuscripts collection, 1682-2004, includes organizational records, family and personal papers, photographs, and other manuscript materials relating to local people and groups from Concord Township.

Delaware County Historical Society deeds and documents collection, 1681-20th century

Abstract:
Delaware County was the first section of Pennsylvania to be settled by Europeans, specifically Swedes in 1643. It was in the city of Chester, the original county seat of Delaware County, that William Penn and the General Assembly of Pennsylvania adopted Penn's "Great Law of Pennsylvania," which granted the right to vote, citizenship, freedom of religion and trial by jury to all settlers. Located adjacent to Philadelphia, Delaware County's suburban population grew rapidly in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Delaware County Historical Society deeds and documents collection, 1681-20th century, consists of over 8,000 deeds and similar property, estate, and legal documents. It includes a large number of 19th and 18th century documents - the earliest is from 1681 - as well as several deeds from William Penn and John Morton.

Frederick Graff maps, technical drawings, and plans on Philadelphia (Pa.) water engineering projects, circa 1683-1875

Abstract:
Frederick Graff (1775-1847) was a hydraulic engineer best known for designing Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's landmark Fairmount Water Works in the 1810s. He subsequently served as consulting engineer for water works in New York, Boston, and many other cities. After Graff's death in 1847, his son, Frederick Graff, Jr. (1817-1890), took over the role of chief engineer for the Philadelphia Water Department. Frederick Graff maps, technical drawings, and plans on Philadelphia (Pa.) water engineering projects, circa 1683-1875, consist of maps, drawings, and plans related to both the elder and younger Graff's work as water engineers. Most of the materials relate to the Fairmount Water Works, but some pertain to other water engineering projects in Philadelphia.

This collection includes papers relating to Rachel H. Roberts and her family. Included is correspondence between Esther Hunt Collins and her first husband, Joshua Hunt, his brother John, her children Elisha, Caleb and Rachel, her second husband, John Collins, and Hannah Yarnall. Also included is correspondence between Rachel H. Roberts and her husband, David. The collection includes genealogical information on the Roberts, Hooton, and other related families, along with wills and account books of Joseph and Susanna Roberts. Letters relate family news, impressions of Redstone Monthly Meeting of Friends, and discussions of Quaker discipline.
