Abstract:: The Bristol Borough School District, located in the southeastern part of Bucks County, is bordered on the east by the Delaware River and is surrounded on the remaining three sides by the Bristol Township School District. The School District's first building was built in 1837; the first class graduated in 1883. For many years Bristol High School served as a regional High School for students from surrounding communities. The Bristol Borough (Pa.) School District records, 1856-2000, consists of letters from teachers, budget reports, strategic plans, and financial records, as well as a few school newspapers and photographs.

Jane Wright Proctor Wallis family papers, 1833-2007 (inclusive)

Abstract:: A Philadelphia native, Jane Wright Proctor Wallis (1875-1956) was the daughter of Sarah Jane Wright and Josiah Kendall Proctor (the founder and owner of several prominent city businesses) and a mother of ten children. The Jane Wright Proctor Wallis family papers provide a glimpse into early 20th-century family life through correspondence, scrapbooks, photographs, and memorabilia. The collection dates from 1833 to 2007, revealing a pride in the history and genealogy of the Proctor Wallis family across its many generations. In addition to familial topics, this collection features many materials documenting events of the early 20th Century as well as various Philadelphia-area social and charitable clubs.

Abstract:: John George Repplier McElroy (1842-1890), an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania (class of 1862), is best known as a professor of Greek, History, and Rhetoric at his alma mater. This collection is primarily composed of lecture notes by John George Repplier McElroy (1842-1890); however it also includes McElroy's notes on his readings of Chaucer and his manuscript of Readings from the Electra of Socrates.

Abstract:: Ashley Bryan (1923-2022) was an artist and storyteller best known for his award-winning children's book illustrations with particular emphasis on African folktales and African-American spirituals. Bryan authored, illustrated, published, and distributed his first book in Kindergarten, later graduating from Cooper Union and Columbia University, being awarded a Fulbright to study at the University of Freiburg, before becoming a professor at Dartmouth College. The collection documents his lifelong devotion to the arts including sketchbooks, artwork, and especially materials relating to the publication process of over sixty book projects. There is also material relating to his professional engagements; certificates, awards, diplomas, and plaques relating to his many achievements; and personal and family materials, notebooks, photographs, greeting cards and postcards, school children thank you cards and artwork, and research files and ephemera. Abstract:: The Beasley family papers are comprised largely of documents relating to three generations of Beasleys who lived in the vicinity of Philadelphia in the nineteenth century: Frederick Beasley (1777-1845), Frederick Williamson Beasley (1808-1878), and Frederick Williamson Beasley, Jr. (1845-1873). The collection includes letters, certificates, published works of the Beasleys, memorabilia from the University of Pennsylvania, guidebooks to the city of Philadelphia, and auction catalogues relating to the interests of the Beasley and Bancker families. The collection includes items with dates ranging from 1802 to 1929, with the bulk of the material falling between 1822 and 1899.

Abstract:: Seven generations of the Seifert family owned and operated a farm in Springtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania for over 200 years. Joseph W. Seifert (1830-1922) inherited "The Old Homestead" farm and passed it on to his son, Joseph E. Seifert, Jr. (1861-1931), who in turn passed it on to his son Harry Luther Seifert (1892-1965). Abstract:: Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades (now known as Williamson College of the Trades) in Middletown Township, Pennsylvania (Delaware County) was established in 1888 with an endowment from Philadelphia merchant and philanthropist Isaiah V. Williamson. The tuition-free school initially offered vocational training for high school-aged men in areas such as bricklaying, carpentry, and machine shop. Since becoming a post-secondary institution in 1961, the school now offers associate degrees in various fields of specialized technology.
