Abstract:: Theodore de Laguna (1876-1930) was a professor of philosophy at Bryn Mawr College for 23 years and an author. The Theodore de Laguna collection, dating from 1896 to 1989, contains diverse writings and annotated books by de Laguna. This collection focuses mainly on de Laguna's manuscripts, off prints, and poetry, but also contains original musical arrangements, annotated works by others, and correspondence regarding de Laguna's death in 1930.

Fritz and Karoline Solmitz papers, 1929-2006 (inclusive)

Extent:: 4 linear ft.
Abstract:: Fritz Solmitz (1893-1933) was an early and outspoken leader in the opposition to Nazism, an editor of a Social Democratic newspaper in Lübeck and a member of the City council. Because of his active opposition to the Nazis, and probably because he was a Jew, he died of mistreatment in a German prison shortly after Hitler came to power. Karoline Somitz (1893-1966) was, like her husband, active in civic affairs. Much of the collection contains letters and photographs, some translated from German.

Morley-Cain papers, 1935-1957 (inclusive)

Abstract:: This collection includes correspondence and manuscripts. The correspondence consists of two series: one business, the other personal. The former series is composed chiefly of letters from Christopher Morley. Many are letters of thanks for correspondence as well as about manuscripts sent to him for publishing in his "Bowling Green" column or other publications. The business correspondence was on acidic, crumbling paper and has been photocopied onto acid-free paper. The latter series includes letters primarily written by Christopher Morley to his secretary, Helen Hare, later Cain, which refer heavily to his literary work, to personal friends, such as Buckminster Fuller, and personal philosophy. Among other items, there is a telegram and copies of letters from Ginger Rogers. Christopher Morley's manuscripts include poems, essays, novelettes, chapters from his books, and aphorisms.

Abstract:: Elizabeth Gray Vining (1902-1999) was an author of children's books and served as the tutor to the crown prince of Japan, Akihito, from 1946 to 1950. Abstract:: "Records of Quaker Discipline in Pennsylvania, 1682-1776," by Jack D. Marietta, provides a code that tracks offenses in Pennsylvania Monthly Meetings from 1682 to 1776. The code includes the name of the offender, sex of the individual, the Monthly and Quarterly Meeting, the date, the number of offenses, the type of offense (coded), and the resolution of the case (coded).
