- Founded in 1860 by six students from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Sketch Club is one of America's oldest continuing artist organizations. The Philadelphia Sketch Club artwork comprises original pen and ink drawings, watercolor, and ink wash sketches by founding members of the club including Edmund B. and George F. Bensell, Henry C. Bispham, John L. Gihon as well as other notable artists such as William Emlen Cresson, and Joseph Boggs Beale.
