Abstract:: John Davison was a prolific composer who taught music at Haverford College from 1959 until his death in 1999. Several of his compositions were performed and recorded by orchestras throughout the United States. Within this collection are drafts of many of his compositions, including Robert Burns: Poems and Songs, an anthology which he completed with John Ashmead. Also included are audio recordings of a couple dozen of his and students' pieces. This collection is an addition to the John Davison Papers, HC.Coll.839.

Eugene Ormandy commercial sound recordings, 1922-1986 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Eugene Ormandy (1899-1985), was a violinist and conductor, best known for his 44-year association with the Philadelphia Orchestra. This collection consists of 663 sound recordings, largely of classical music performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Ormandy. The collection is arranged in alphabetical order by composer, or occasionally by the title of the recording when multiple composers or a themed recording was created.

Abstract:: The Ray Evans papers comprise materials documenting his career as the lyricist for the songwriting team of Livingston and Evans. The collection contains correspondence, sheet music, lyrics and scripts, press clippings, audio and visual recordings, photographs, programs, awards, memorabilia, and art work. Also included are personal mementoes, including some from his time as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania. Abstract:: Kathryn Hansen is a professor emerita in the Department of Asian studies at the University of Texas at Austin who specializes in South Asian languages and literatures (Hindi, Urdu, and Sanskrit); literary, cultural, and historical studies of South Asia; folk and classical performance of music and dance; history of theatrical practices in North India; early Indian film history; gender studies and feminist theory; and diaspora and ethnicity studies. This collection is comprised of chapbooks, studies and anthologies, and recordings related to Indian folk dramas and tales.

Includes Daniel's correspondence, photocopies of some of Mitropoulos's correspondence, other writers' biographical works on Mitropoulos, oral history interview transcripts, reminiscences, research notes, clippings, programs, reviews, photographs, and sound recordings of interviews, radio programs, and musical works.

Abstract:: Ted Weems (1901-1963) was a musician, an American bandleader, and the director of the Ted Weems Orchestra. He gained national renown for several hits, including "Somebody Stole My Gal," "Piccolo Pete," and "Heartaches." This collection documents the professional musical career of Weems with scores, sheet music, and song sheets; photographs and images; scrapbooks; and recordings. There is limited family and personal material; and in general, this collection shows Weems's public persona rather than the private man.
