Eugene Ormandy served as the conductor/musical director of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra from 1931 to 1936 and the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1937 to 1980.This collection of photographs documents the career and life of Eugene Ormandy from the early 1880s to the early 1990s, with the bulk of the photographs dating from the 1940s to the 1970s. Abstract:
Marian Brownlow (1933-2012) was an American educator and historical researcher. This collection documents her life during the later years of her marriage to and divorce from Donald Gray Brownlow. The majority of the material is personal in nature, centering on the period between 1978 and 1982, when Marian Brownlow took several trips to Marrakech to care for British Field Marshal Claude Auchinleck in the years leading up to his death in 1981. The bulk of this collection is restricted at the donor's request.

Abstract:
This collection documents William C. Lengel's (1888-1965) career as an author, literary agent, and editor. It offers many insights into the literary world and publishing industry of the mid-twentieth century. The collection also contains many examples of Lengel's own writing, fiction and non-fiction. The William C. Lengel papers contains a substantial amount of material about author Theodore Dreiser, due to the fact that Lengel was a friend and literary agent to Dreiser. Most of the Dreiser material is related to their professional relationship, and includes typescripts, annotated drafts, and correspondence concerned with editorial and publishing matters.

Alexander Scott was born in 1854 in Camberwell, Surrey, the son of the famed British portrait painter for the Illustrated London News, Thomas Dewel Scott. Edward Avery McIlhenny Alaska Expedition records, 1897-1899 (inclusive)

Abstract:
In 1897, Edward Avery McIlhenny pursued an agreement with Dr. William Pepper, President of the Museum of Anthropology and Archeaology at the University of Pennsylvania to gain the museum's support for his own expedition to Point Barrow, Alaska. In return. he agreed to give the museum all of the specimens recovered. McIlhenny worked in Alaska from 1897 to 1899. The Point Barrow Collection consists of three folders of correspondence and catalogues and two boxes of mounted photographs.

Abstract:
Cyrus Adler was a prominent Jewish scholar and communal builder. Born in 1863, he had a tremendous role in shaping much of Jewish America by the time of his death in 1940. The collection contains Dr. Adler's business correspondence and personal papers and spans much of his multi-faceted career. It also contains many papers connected to the formation and day-to-day business of the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning.
