Abstract:: The Library records contains documentation of the Drexel University Library from its creation in 1891 to 2003. Drexel University Library has been housed in three different buildings; the Main Building (1891-1958), the Korman Center (1959-1982) and W.W. Hagerty Library (1983-2010). The library was also responsible for running the library school until 1962, with the exception of the years 1914 to 1922 when the library school was suspended. The documents in this collection constitute a record of the activities of the directors, the internal library departments, and the intensive planning of the form and function of the two library buildings.

Abstract:: This collection contains the files of Kenneth G. Matheson, president of the Drexel Institute of Art, Science, and Industry from 1922 to 1931. As he took office, Matheson and the Institute faced many challenges, including financial difficulties, decreasing enrollments, outdated facilities, and a generally dissatisfied university community. The files contain correspondence with faculty, parents and students which documents the numerous, positive changes Matheson helped to initiate during his presidency. Reports on departments, budgets, faculty, facilities, curriculum and extra-curricular activities as well as faculty publications are often attached as supporting documents to the letters and memoranda. A complete set of annual reports for the period 1922-1931 is also included.

Abstract:: The Francis Clark Wood Institute for the History of Medicine was established in 1976 to promote to the scholarly community the rich historical resources of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia's historical library and the Mütter Museum. The Institute sponsors conferences, occasional seminars, and short-term travel grants to researchers who require the resources of the museum and library. This collection documents the operation and programs of the Francis Clark Wood Institute for the History of Medicine from 1968 to 2005, providing an in-depth view into the study of the history of medicine for more than three decades.
