- G. & C. Merriam, bookseller and publisher, was established in 1831 by George and Charles Merriam in Springfield, Massachusetts. Primarily, the firm sold schoolbooks, Bibles, law books, and editions of Noah Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language. This collection documents, to a limited degree, the operations of G. & C. Merriam (1831-1864) and the G. & C. Merriam Company (1864-1892) through correspondence, financial records, and advertising.
