Abstract:: Laura Ruth "Patsy" Murray Klein graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Education in 1931, received her master's degree in English in 1933, and completed her Ph.D. in English in 1943. She was an educator in the Philadelphia area, who eventually rose to the position of Principal of the Philadelphia High School for Girls from 1963 to 1976. The Laura Ruth Murray Klein Papers document just a few of the organizations and activities that this multi-faceted woman engaged in over her lifetime.

Abstract:: Louis Barkhouse Flexner was a Professor of Anatomy and Chair of the Anatomy Department at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine from 1951 to 1967, a founder of the University of Pennsylvania's Institute of Neurological Sciences (now called the Mahoney Institute for Neurosciences), and medical researcher noted for his work pertaining to the biochemistry of memory.The Louis Barkhouse Flexner papers mostly consist of offprints from scholarly journals of articles Flexner authored or co-authored, handwritten drafts of talks Flexner gave, a small collection of photographs, offprints inscribed by his uncles, Abraham and Simon Flexner, and correspondence that is of a mixed professional and personal nature.

Abstract:: Anthony Nicholas Brady Garvan came to the University of Pennsylvania in 1950 as a Fellow in American Civilization. He was appointed Assistant Professor in American Civilization in 1951, and in 1960 was appointed the first Professor in American Civilization and Department Chair at the University of Pennsylvania. The Anthony Nicholas Brady Garvan Papers primarily document the professional and academic activities of Garvan, with the addition of a small grouping of personal papers relating to his family and interests in hunting and travel.
