A Philadelphia native, Jane Wright Proctor Wallis (1875-1956) was the daughter of Sarah Jane Wright and Josiah Kendall Proctor (the founder and owner of several prominent city businesses) and a mother of ten children. The Jane Wright Proctor Wallis family papers provide a glimpse into early 20th-century family life through correspondence, scrapbooks, photographs, and memorabilia. The collection dates from 1833 to 2007, revealing a pride in the history and genealogy of the Proctor Wallis family across its many generations. In addition to familial topics, this collection features many materials documenting events of the early 20th Century as well as various Philadelphia-area social and charitable clubs.

The Hedgerow Theatre Company was established in 1923 by Jasper Deeter, a New York based actor and director. Located in the Rose Valley Arts and Crafts Community of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Hedgerow holds the distinction as the longest serving Repertory Theatre in America. The Hedgerow Theatre Company records contains a wide variety of materials, from business records and show materials to member ephemera and photographs. Abstract:
The business records of the Maternity Care Coalition (MCC), a Philadelphia-based organization devoted to preventing infant mortality. Founded in 1980, the Maternity Care Coalition continued to operate at the time of the donation in 2009. The bulk of the materials comprise community outreach and client education materials, research materials, and publications. Also present within the collection are newspaper clippings, a number of media appearances captured on VHS, reel-to-reel, and audio cassettes, as well as a series of photographs that span the years 1985 to 2005.

Jack Rosenfeld papers, 1910-2003 (inclusive) 1942-1945 (bulk)

Abstract:
Collection of correspondence, writings, memorabilia, and photographs of Jack Rosenfeld, mainly pertaining to his service in the United States Army during the Second World War, from September 1942 to November 1945. Rosenfeld's extensive wartime correspondence with his fiancée, family members, and friends offers glimpses into the experiences of everyday Americans during the war, both from the point of view of individuals serving in the Armed Forces, and from that of the civilian community at home, especially in Philadelphia. The correspondence also gives an impression of Jewish community life in Philadelphia at the time, and of the perspectives of American Jews on the war. A little more than half of the correspondence is in the form of the miniaturized facsimiles known as Victory Mail, or V-Mail. Jack Rosenfeld's writings include a memoir about his wartime experiences (dated 1995), and an autobiographical essay about his family and childhood. Abstract:
Ashley Bryan (1923-2022) was an artist and storyteller best known for his award-winning children's book illustrations with particular emphasis on African folktales and African-American spirituals. Bryan authored, illustrated, published, and distributed his first book in Kindergarten, later graduating from Cooper Union and Columbia University, being awarded a Fulbright to study at the University of Freiburg, before becoming a professor at Dartmouth College. The collection documents his lifelong devotion to the arts including sketchbooks, artwork, and especially materials relating to the publication process of over sixty book projects. Alvin and Frankie Rubinstein travel diaries and correspondence, 1920-2002 (inclusive) 1958-2000 (bulk)

Abstract:
Alvin Z. Rubinstein (1927-2001) was a political scientist and international relations scholar, who was best known for his studies of the foreign relations of the former Soviet Union and Russia. Frankie Rubinstein (1918-2019) was an English teacher who taught at Philadelphia's Overbrook High School and at the Philadelphia High School for Girls. Together, from 1960 to 2000, the married couple travelled extensively to countries in Europe, the Middle East, and the former Soviet Union. While their travels were motivated chiefly by Alvin Rubinstein's research and academic work as a political scientist, the majority of the correspondence and other material reflect Frankie's voice and life experience. However, her husband Alvin did write some correspondence and the collection also includes several journals in which he took extensive notes on trips to Yugoslavia and Moscow in the 1960s.

The Committee on College Collections of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia was established in 1935. Over the years, the Committee on College Collections worked closely with the Committee on the Mutter Museum; by 1939, the same Fellows served on both committees. The Museum Council of Philadelphia is the oldest and one of the largest regional associations of museums in the United States. Gretchen Worden was an avid supporter of local, national, and international professional organizations. She spent her career at the Mütter Museum of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia and later joined the Museum Council of Philadelphia. The records in this collection document the everyday administrative activities, operations, and programs of various committees of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia and the Museum Council of Philadelphia, and span the years of 1932 to 2006. Abstract:
Arthur K. Asbury, Van Meter Professor of Neurology Emeritus, is one of the country's most noted neurologists, recognized for his clinical and experimental studies of peripheral neuropathies, particularly those related to chronic kidney failure, diabetes mellitus, and Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Asbury was born in 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Kentucky in 1951, and went on to study at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, receiving his M.D. in 1958. His postgraduate training included an internship and residency in medicine, neurology, and neuropathology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a teaching fellowship at Harvard Medical School. From 1963 to 1965 he held a research and clinical fellowship in neuropathology at MGH and a research fellowship in neuropathology at Harvard Medical School.
