Abstract:: The Hague Appeal for Peace is an organization with a global campaign to create a "culture of peace" through the following means: by strengthening humanitarian and human rights laws and institutions, by advancing the prevention, peaceful resolution, and transformation of conflicts, by abolishing nuclear weapons and develop disarmament campaigns, and identifying the root causes of war. More than 800 organizations--human rights, environmental, gender, disarmament-- have endorsed the HAP campaign.

Abstract:: The Fair Lawn community in New Jersey founded the Committee for Peace in Vietnam on March 1, 1967. The organization began building local support for alternative solutions to the conflict in Vietnam. The organization's membership grew to 200+ families in the six years that followed. On October 26, 1973, the group announced its plans to disband.

Abstract:: Cora Weiss is a peace and social justice leader and activist. She is a supporter of the United Nations, an early member of Women Strike for Peace, a leader in the anti-Vietnam war movement in the United States. In the 1970s Weiss was the director of the Riverside Church (New York, NY) Disarmament Program. Weiss was also active with SANE, SANE/Freeze, Peace Action, and The Hague Appeal for Peace. Weiss became president of the International Peace Bureau in 2000. She has always been active in women's peace issues, hosting the first women's radio program in New York City in the 1970s, attending women's disarmament summits in the former Soveit Union, the U.N. Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995, and many other events. Weiss is the recipient of numerous peace awards from all over the world.

Abstract:: The Committee of Liaison with Families of Servicemen Detained in North Vietnam was founded in 1969. Cora Weiss was the co-chair and director of the organization from 1969-1972. The Committee organized the exchange of letters and packages between families of prisoners of war in Vietnam and the POWs. The Committee played a significant role in providing information to the U.S. public about the POW situation and in the public debates about this issue. Other supporters and activists with the Committee included David Dellinger, Richard Falk, and William Sloane Coffin.
