Alfred Joseph Rieber was noted scholar of Russian History. In 1965, he was appointed Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania, and eventually was appointed Chairmanship of the History Department and Associate Deanship of the School of Arts and Sciences. The papers of Alfred J. Rieber relates to his time as a professor and as Chairman of the History Department at Penn.
