Abstract:

Katherine Lower came to the Carola Woerishoffer Graduate Department of Social Work and Social Research in the fall of 1946 as a part time lecturer in social research. Eventually she progressed to lecturer, associate professor, professor and finally director and dean of the department. During her administration as director, the social work faculty grew as did the student enrollment. She greatly expanded and enriched the graduate curriculum. The bulk of the collection consists of office papers relating to the development and history of the department.
