- In 1944, Kathryn Linden (1905-2000) was hired by Pearl S. Buck as Director of Audiovisual Education for the East and West Association, an organization founded by Buck and her husband dedicated to cultural exchange and understanding between Asia and the West. Linden selected films, directed film and lecture series, and created exhibitions for educational purposes, in addition to assisting with the production of the film series "Through China's Gateway". "Through China's Gateway" film and booklet series, 1947, consists of five filmstrips, five booklets, and a phonograph recording of "Through China's Gateway," an educational series written and narrated by Pearl S. Buck for the East and West Association and produced by Telefilm Corporation in association with the editors of
Look Magazine in 1947.
