Abstract:: Since its inception in 1973, the Non-Violence and Children Committee (NVC) has explored the values, skills, and supports which enable children to develop powerful, nonviolent responses to violence. They work with Monthly Meetings, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, Friends' and non-Quaker schools, the wider community and within their own committee, to support nonviolent approaches to conflict and differences, and to nurture children in the ways of peacemaking. The committee organizes and often facilitates workshops on topics pertinent to their cause and engages in work sessions to generate approaches to be shared with others. In keeping with the structural changes of the Yearly Meeting in 1998, the members of the Nonviolence and Children Committee reformed themselves into the Nonviolence and Children Concerns Group under the jurisdiction of the Standing Committee on Education.

Abstract:: Richmond Pearson Miller (1902-1972) was a Quaker author and educator. He was the son of J. Milton and Sara G. Miller In 1926 Alice Leinbach. He died in 1972. This collection contains the papers of Richmond P. Miller, Quaker author and educator, including correspondence, writings, and papers relating to various Quaker concerns. Miller was involved with the 1962 NBC television production, Gentle Persuaders; the William Penn Tercentenary in 1964; the William Jeanes Memorial Library controversy; and the United Nations. In addition, he was involved in commemorative events at Quaker meeting houses, the All Friends Conference in Oskaloosa, 1929, First Day Schools, Friends Peace Committee, National Conference on the Churches and Social Welfare in Cleveland, 1961, the Ohio Yearly Meeting Sesquicentennial in 1962, School of Mysticism in New York, 1929, World Conference of Friends in 1952, and Young Friend Caravan in 1925.

Abstract:: This collection consists of Charles Walker's papers on nonviolent direct action and the peace movement. The majority of the collection relates to his work on the Nonviolent Action Research Project, part of the Center for Nonviolent Conflict Resolution at Haverford College, from 1969 to 1974.
