- Mary Kay Kane graduated from University of Michigan Law School in 1971. She served as a Professor at the State University of New York - Buffalo Law School from 1974 to 1977 and as a professor, Academic Dean, Dean, and Chancellor at the University of California, Hastings Law School from 1977 to 2006. Kane's area of interest was civil procedure from which she published many books and articles. She served as the Assistant Reporter for the American Law Institute Complex Litigation Project.The Mary Kay Kane Papers (Complex Litigation Project), 1988-1993, include correspondence and meeting transcripts related to Kane's work as Assistant Reporter on the American Law Institute (ALI) Complex Litigation Project, published in 1994 as Complex Litigation: Statutory Recommendations and Analysis. The majority of the series is correspondence regarding drafts, advising, and the Choice of Law clause.
