- Abstract:
- Turn Toward Peace was founded in 1961 as a cooperative national effort of about 60 peace and liberal internationalist organizations; Norman Thomas was Chairman of TTP, and Robert Gilmore was the Executive Director. There eventually were offices in several large cities and 38 national organizations were affiliated with the organization. But by 1963, serious discord divided TTP and several years later a group split off to became the World Without War Council; some regional offices retained the name of "Turn Toward Peace."
