- Abstract:
- John d'Arcy Northwood (1897-1972) was the first director/curator of the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. An avid, life-long birder, he was the founder and president of the Audubon Society of Hawaii, authored
Familiar Hawaiian Birds (1940), and worked for the National Audubon Society in Florida and New Jersey as well as Pennsylvania. The heart of the J. d'Arcy Northwood papers, 1910-1966, are five bird-watching journals. There is also an index to some of the journals, a clippings scrapbook, and two published pamphlets in the collection.
