Sarah Cresson diary, 1789-1829 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Cresson was a Quaker minister who was born in Philadelphia and later moved to Haddonfield, New Jersey. The majority of her diary entries detail visits from traveling Quaker ministers, funerals of community members, and descriptions of Quaker meetings, including testimonies given. Many entries are composed solely of prayers to God, or exclamations of Sarah's religious conviction and her devotion to her God and the Quaker faith, while later entries tend to detail more earthly concerns, particularly Sarah's struggles with depression.

Samuel C. Davis diary, 1807-1809 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Samuel Cole Davis's diary details his illness with "cancer of the lip," as transcribed by Steven E. Kagle. Davis's diary entries include the particulars of his medical condition and the treatments that various doctors attempted to cure the cancer or alleviate pain. Later entries especially focus on his attempt to atone for his sins and seek salvation as he approaches his death.

Elizabeth Drinker diaries, 1758-1800 (inclusive)

Abstract:: Elizabeth was a colonial era Quaker and prolific journal writer. Elizabeth's diaries are composed of her personal reflections of the day-to-day life of a wealthy Quaker woman in colonial Philadelphia. The majority of Elizabeth's entries detail her daily life, including social calls with other Quaker families and individuals, the births, deaths, and marriages within her community, and attendance at, and descriptions of, weekly and monthly Quaker meetings. Elizabeth's description of events during the American Revolutionary War include general military events, as well as personal experiences during the war.

Charles Evans diary, 1861

Abstract:: Charles Evans was a Quaker physician and was active in the Quaker community. His "Diary of a European Trip, 1861" details Evans's voyage from Philadelphia to England, including descriptions of the captain and other cabin passengers, illness on board, and the weather during the voyage. Eugenie Benezet journal, 1843-1849 (inclusive)

Abstract:: This collection is composed of the typed extracts of the diary of Eugenie Benezet, with entries dating between 1843 and 1849. Entries describe family news, Protestant and Catholic beliefs, and her work at a Friend's school in France. Abstract:: John M. Grisom was a physician who lived and practiced in Moorestown, Burlington, New Jersey. His diary focuses on his attendance at "Friendly Study Group" meetings, a group, according to Griscom, that gathers for "the study of the influences and causes leading to the separation of 1827." Entries describe discussions had at these meetings.
