Abstract:

Eleanor Corkhill Adams Addison married William Henry Fitzgerald Addison who came to the University of Pennsylvania in 1905 when he was appointed as a Demonstrator of Normal Histology. Shortly after he received his M.D. from the University in 1917, he was became a full Professor of Normal Histology and Embryology in the School of Medicine. This diary kept by Eleanor Corkhill Adams Addison (faculty wife) from December 31, 1939 to May 21, 1944. It provides an intimate account of a wide range of faculty and campus life during the Second World War.
