Abstract:: Elijah Coffin's scrapbook includes his handwritten notes, typed materials, and published clippings. It features published materials on the history of westward expansion and pioneers, and the history of Indiana, as well as typed excerpts from a history of Kentucky (by Scudder), a history of Virginia (by Cooke), and Daniel Boone. In addition to material focusing on the history of the American West, the scrapbook includes excerpts from histories of Mesopotamia, Russia, Babylonia, Sumeria, Palestine, and Jerusalem.

Thomas Fisher signature album, Undated.

Abstract:: Thomas Fisher (1801-1856) was a Quaker poet, a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, and the author of books on science and mathematics. This collection is comprised of his single volume signature album. The note on the inside cover reads: "The undersigned have examined Mr. Thomas Fisher's Diagrams for Generalizing and Simplifying Mathematical Principles; and believing them to be Novel and useful, subscribe in order to promote their publication." At the back of the volume there is a facsimile list of subscription to the Nonimportation Resolutions.

"The History of the Rise, Progress, and Accomplishment of the Abolition of the African Slave Trade", Undated.

Extent:: 0.25 linear ft. (2 volumes)
Abstract:: In Thomas Clarkson's manuscript "The History of the Rise, Progress, and Accomplishment of the Abolition of the African Slave Trade," he describes the Quaker influence in the abolitionist movement in Britain and the parliamentary debates leading to the Slave Trade Act of 1807. The manuscript describes both the arguments in support and in opposition to abolition, and the actions of the members of the abolition movement. Volume 1 contains the early history of the abolition movement until July, 1788, and volume two describes the abolition movement from 1789 to 1808. The manuscript includes edits throughout.

Churchman includes "An Account of sundry Remarkable Expressions spoken by John Churchman," "Sermon delivered by Joseph White of America at Grace Church Meeting House, London, 1760," "Some Expressions dropp'd from Mordecai Yarnall," "To the Monthly and Quarterly and Particular Meetings in the County of Hertford, 1778," "The Prophecy of James Usher, 1st Lord Primate, etc. of Ireland, of the Rebellion 40 years before," a letter written by Mary Peisley to John Pemberton, a letter describing the marriage and death of Mary Peisley Neale, "The Prediction of Christopher Love, 1651," and a "Caution to the Friends against Conformity to the World, John Lucas, 1764."

This collection is comprised of the single volume handwritten manuscript of Joseph Hoag's journal and correspondence related to the item's donation.
