Abstract:
The First Regiment Infantry, Pennsylvania, or "The Dandy First," is considered by some to be the oldest continuously existing troop in the United States National Guard, and the only existing Pennsylvania unit that served in the Continental Army. The unit, which today is known as the 103rd Engineer Battalion, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, has fought in nearly every major American battle beginning with the Revolutionary War. The 1st Regiment Infantry, Pennsylvania records, 1812-1970, consist of about 100 record books of the regiment and its predecessor and successor units, as well as several photograph albums and scrapbooks.

Abstract:
The 19th Century playbills collection contains a range of material related to theater culture in nineteenth century Philadelphia and in selected other theaters across the northeastern United States. Researchers will find nineteenth century playbills from the following Philadelphia theaters: the Walnut Street Theatre, the Academy of Music, the Arch Street Theatre, the Chestnut Street Theatre, National Theatre (Walnut Street), the National Theatre (Chestnut Street), the Melodeon, and the Continental Theatre. There are also playbills from the Chestnut Street, Arch Street, and 11th Street opera houses. This collection contains an assortment of scrapbooks which include newspaper clippings, photographs, and reviews of actors and performances. The majority of scrapbooks were assembled by various theater enthusiasts; however ten were compiled by theater producer and director Paul E. Abstract:
In June 1947, Museum Curator Ella Wade wrote: "For almost one hundred years the Mutter Museum of the College of Physicians has existed with no published catalogue of its thousands of specimens. Except for listing and numbering new specimens as they were received, little was done in the way of cataloguing until 1884, when Dr. Guy Hinsdale, the curator, undertook the enormous task of compiling the first complete and compre- hensive catalogue. This consists of three large typewritten volumes. Through the years these suffered through much handling in making cor- rections and insertions, so in 1940 it was copied, giving the museum three new volumes which are also typewritten. In this first catalogue lengthy detailed descriptions are given in most instances, yet it is not a practical catalogue for use by the public, in locating desired material. In 1946 Dr. Leandro M. In 1944, Kathryn Linden (1905-2000) was hired by Pearl S. Buck as Director of Audiovisual Education for the East and West Association, an organization founded by Buck and her husband dedicated to cultural exchange and understanding between Asia and the West. Linden selected films, directed film and lecture series, and created exhibitions for educational purposes, in addition to assisting with the production of the film series "Through China's Gateway". "Through China's Gateway" film and booklet series, 1947, consists of five filmstrips, five booklets, and a phonograph recording of "Through China's Gateway," an educational series written and narrated by Pearl S. Buck for the East and West Association and produced by Telefilm Corporation in association with the editors of Look Magazine in 1947.

It is the official organ of the Whittier Association," and was previously called the "Highland Hall News, and was a weekly paper." This photograph album consists of thirty-one original black and white photographs documenting Sudanese culture and the changes the British brought to the country during the period of Anglo-Egyptian occupation. Included are views of Halfa, Kassala, Sennar, Khartoum (including government buildings, Gordon College, Kitchener Memorial Medical School, the Grand Hotel Khartoum, and Khartoum Palace), Omdurman, Suakin, and Port Sudan, all of which are situated along the Sudan government railways. There are also several images documenting the Gezira scheme, the Sennar irrigation dam, and indigenous peoples harvesting wheat and cotton.

Her husband writes about the series of operations she underwent to remove the tumors, the re-emergence of the tumors after a number of operations, and the doctor's recommendation that they remove her right eye. The manuscript describes Mickle's decision not to undergo the operation to remove her eye, and recounts her final days, including visits from friends and family, and some quotes from Mickle's last days, as well as a description of her final moments and death in 1809. The manuscript provides a detailed account of medical practice at the time, as well as the traditions surrounding death and dying.

The Saturday Evening Post was first published on August 4, 1821 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as a weekly magazine. In 1897, the magazine was purchased by the Curtis Publishing Company. From 1916 to the 1960s, Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) created over 300 paintings for use as Post covers, contributing to his reputation as one of America's favorite native-born artists. The "Saturday Evening Post" covers by Norman Rockwell, 1918-1975, consist of over 300 covers of the Saturday Evening Post featuring Rockwell's illustrations.

The original manuscript was written by Caleb Pusey (1650?-1727), and published in Philadelphia in 1700, though it is unknown who copied this volume. According to a book plate on the inside cover, this volume was originally owned by Asa Matlack, and was later loaned by him to the Library of Chester Monthly Meeting, in Moorestown, New Jersey.
