Abstract:

This collection consists of nine images which, to a very limited degree, document indigenous people of the Acomoa Pueblo, Apache, Hopi, Laguna Pueblo, and Navaho tribes in the American southwest, in current day Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Images are of peublos and people (including Juanita, widow of Chief Manuelito; unidentified women; Hopi dancers preparing for the Snake Dance; and unidentified people preparing horses for travel). The identity of the photographer and whether they were documenting the indigenous culture or traveling as a tourist is unknown.

Land and property records for the Philadelphia city block bounded by Walnut and Sansom Streets, and South 6th and 7th Streets., 1794-1908 (inclusive)

Abstract:

This collection documents the history of land ownership for the block in center city Philadelphia that is currently occupied by the Curtis Building, which is bounded by South 6th and South 7th Streets, and Sansom and Walnut Streets. There are 107 land deeds or indentures, and 23 other records of various sorts that document the sale, purchase, or transfer of property from 1794 to 1908 within this block. The oldest document is an indenture for the entire plot from James Logan, Jr. to John Swanwick, on December 31, 1794. The most recent document is a 1908 survey of the same plot, likely made for the Curtis Publishing Company by the City of Philadelphia. The majority are handwritten on vellum and are largely in good condition. Records are arranged chronologically.

The Fred Morgner Central American Political Ephemera Collection comes from the personal collection of posters and pamphlets from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. The collection contains materials related to revolutionary movements as well as activism related to women's rights, workers, Liberation Theology, elections, anti-imperialism, and national sovereignty.

Notgeld album, 1916-1922 (inclusive)

Abstract:

This album contains 337 examples of notgeld, or "emergency money" produced between 1916 and 1922 by various German municipalities, companies, and individuals during the financial crisis resulting from World War I. These currency notes are richly illustrated with depictions of landmarks, folklore, historical figures, and events. The notes are predominately serienscheine or "collectors notes" of distinctively high quality and include sets of notes that follow a particular theme or tale. The notes are all in excellent condition.

Under the direction of Ukeles, the project sought to designate alternative strategies for urban problem areas.
