This collection offers snapshots of Chester M. Brown at two stages of his career. In 1943-1945, taking on major responsibility as Plant Manager of the Point Pleasant West Virginia Ordinance Works where dynamite for the war effort was being produced, then, in 1962-1968 as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman-of-the-Board of the Allied Chemical Corporation, acting as corporate spokesman and a driving force for modernization within the company.

The collection contains Nobel laureate Paul Lauterbur's groundbreaking work in the field of spectroscopy. His early work, dealing with 13C spectroscopy as well as his invention of NMR zeugmatography/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are both thoroughly documented. Lauterbur's grant applications research data, publications, presentations, and student work are contained within the collection. There is a collection of photographs and slides. Paul C. Lauterbur's notebook is also at the Science History Institute.

The National Fund for Medical Education is a not-for-profit corporation that raises funds and administers grants to educate health professionals. This collection is NFME's archival records that document the organization's fund raising and individual and institutional grant administration. The bulk of the collection is comprised of grant files for the years 1966 to 1991 with institutional grants greatly outnumbering those to individuals. This collection, as a whole, mirrors changing perceptions of the education and practice of health care professions of the late twentieth century.

This collection consists of the personal papers of Martha Emily Shaw, Philadelphia native and graduate of the Training School for Nurses of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. This collection contains a volume of her lecture notes from 1911. Shaw served as a nurse during World War I at the University of Pennsylvania's Base Hospital No. 20 in France. Upon her return from the war, she became an active member of the American Legion’s Helen Fairchild Post #412. Her activities with the Post are documented in this collection's photographs.
