Abstract:: The Lansdowne-Aldan Citizens' Committee, formed in 1971, unsuccessfully attempted to halt the creation of the William Penn School District in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The Lansdowne-Aldan Citizens' Committee records on the creation of the William Penn School District, 1971-1972, consist of materials collected by John "Jack" Covert, a member of the executive committee. Largely correspondence, the collection also includes some financial records, newspaper clippings, copies of lawsuits and legal documents, meeting minutes, memoranda, newsletters, school statistics, donation forms, and lobbying materials.

Abstract:: Located in southeastern Delaware County, Pennsylvania the William Penn School District serves students who live in the six communities of Aldan, Colwyn, Darby, East Lansdowne, Lansdowne, and Yeadon Boroughs. Despite a protracted legal battle, the school district was established in 1972 per a state mandate to merge and desegregate schools from the districts of Lansdowne-Aldan, Yeadon, and Darby-Colwyn. The William Penn School Board records, 1969-1979 (bulk 1975-1979), consist of newsletters and minutes, court-related documents, press releases, financial reports, budgets, directories, a long-range plan, and some miscellaneous items.

In 1966, the state mandated that the district merge with the Ridley Park and Ridley Township School Districts. The Eddystone School Board records, 1919-1966, include by-laws, board minutes, treasurer's reports, and legal documents, 1919-1965 (incomplete).

Abstract:: The Bristol Borough School District, located in the southeastern part of Bucks County, is bordered on the east by the Delaware River and is surrounded on the remaining three sides by the Bristol Township School District. The School District's first building was built in 1837; the first class graduated in 1883. For many years Bristol High School served as a regional High School for students from surrounding communities. The Bristol Borough (Pa.) School District records, 1856-2000, consists of letters from teachers, budget reports, strategic plans, and financial records, as well as a few school newspapers and photographs.

Abstract:: Israel R. Berry (born 1862) was an influential citizen of West Caln Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, known for his successful farm and involvement with the township school board. His father, Milton Berry (born in West Caln in 1825), was a carpenter who acquired a 47-acre farm, and was active in township government. The Israel R. Berry family papers, 1864-1940 (bulk 1890-1940), include a large amount of records of the West Caln Township School Board as well as assorted personal papers and family papers (principally from Israel Berry and his father, Milton Berry).
