Abstract:
This oversize volume is a letterpress copybook containing the outgoing correspondence of Henry Wharton's law practice in Philadelphia, located in Washington Square. The letters span almost four years from 1874 to 1878. Wharton's practice served prominent Philadelphians and dealt with many facets of real estate law prominent Philadelphians. Some letters concern Philadelphia ordinances and legal matters.

Florentine documents and correspondence collection, 1437-1804 (inclusive)

Abstract:
Collection concerning Florentine families, organizations, trades, and industries covering the years 1437-1804. The documents that compose the collection are divided into two broad sections, one dedicated to families and organizations, and the other to subjects. The former, arranged alphabetically by name, then chronologically for each family or organization, features documents pertaining to about 130 among the most important Florentine families, as well as institutions such as the Monte di pietà and the hospital of Santa Maria Novella (referred to as Spedale). The families that are best-known in the collection include the Acciaiuoli, Altoviti, Antinori, Corsi, Corsini, Guadagni, Rucellai, Salviati, and Strozzi; the best-represented families in the collection are the Amadori, Capponi, Cassi, Lapini, and Ricciardi. English legal documents collection, 1592-1810 (inclusive)

Abstract:
This collection contains 52 assorted English legal documents. Most are brief transactional records attesting to land sales, contracts, or estate settlements. Though mostly unrelated, there are a few small groups of connected documents, such as the five certificates of payment by Captain Roger Martin to various parties executed during December 1685. Beyond these transactional documents are a 1679 record of arguments before the Privy Council as well as a 1770 warrant for the arrest of Nicholas Gwyn, an Ipswich medical doctor.

Park Land Association financial records and leases, 1914-1960 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The area of Parkland, near Langhorne in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was turned into a summer resort in the 1890s by the Parkland Spiritualist Camp Meeting Association, an off-shoot of the First Association of Spiritualists of Philadelphia. The area remained popular as a summer resort destination for several decades before the summer homes were converted to year-round rental units. The Park Land Association was the rental organization leasing properties in the area. The Park Land Association financial records and leases, 1914-1960, include tax reports, cash books, check stubs, capital stock taxes, miscellaneous financial correspondence, cancelled checks, and leases.

Middletown Township real estate tax assessments, circa 1921-1951

Abstract:
Middletown Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania was formally established in 1692. Most of Middletown remained a farming community until the latter part of the 1800s, when a rail line increased the accessibility of the area and it became more attractive to Philadelphians. An explosion of housing in the township came in the late 1950s when William Levitt built Levittown. The Middletown Township real estate tax assessments, circa 1921-1951, cover a 30-year period that ends shortly before the creation of Levittown. The bulk of the collection consists of tax assessments on note cards; also included are blue prints, lists of taxable inhabitants, and assessment notebooks.

Historical Society of Frankford deed collection, 1681-1936 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is located in the lower northeast section of the city and is bordered by the Frankford Creek on the south, Castor Avenue on the west, Cheltenham Avenue on the north, and roughly the I-95 expressway on the east. Originally a village, Frankford was incorporated as a borough in 1800 and was later absorbed into the City of Philadelphia in the 1854 Philadelphia city/county consolidation. As of 2015, Frankford is a working-class neighborhood with a diverse population, including a large number of African Americans, Asian Americans, Polish Americans, Italian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and West Indian Americans. The Historical Society of Frankford deed collection, 1681-1936, consists of deeds, patents, indentures, and other related property documents pertaining to properties and/or lands in and around the Northeast Philadelphia area, especially Frankford.

Malin family papers, 1684-1880 (bulk) 1684-1992 (inclusive)

Abstract:
The Borough of Media, the county seat of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, was settled by Europeans beginning in the 1680s. The area remained largely rural until the end of the 19th century. The Malin family was one of the first English Quaker families to settle in Pennsylvania when Randal Malin (1652-1729), a Quaker minister, emigrated from Cheshire, England upon purchasing 250 acres of land from William Penn in 1681. The Malin family papers, 1684-1992 (bulk, 1684-1880), include mostly estate records such as deeds, indentures, wills, bond and mortgages, and estate inventories with some financial papers such as a receipt book, miscellaneous receipts, and shilling notes. There is also a photocopy of a manuscript genealogy of Malin and Edwards families by Phyillis Centman.

Abstract:
W. Aubrey Merrick (1885-1962), owner of W. Aubrey Merrick, Real Estate and Insurance, was a realtor in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His company succeeded the Merrick agency that he inherited from his father, John S. Merrick (1831-1907), and uncle, who were Newtown surveyors and conveyancers. The Merrick company records, 1831-1922, largely consist of bound volumes of property surveys, insurance records, survey maps, and surveying notebooks. The collection also includes Merrick family genealogy volumes and papers.

Abstract:
Newtown, the county seat of Bucks County from 1726 to 1813, is one of the most historic areas in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Newtown Historic Association legal documents, circa 1690-1964, consist of original deeds, leases and releases and other legal documents. Particular properties and buildings are significantly documented, including Allen's Mill, 1787-1964. Of special interest is a 1692 deed on rag paper with an original 17th century jester watermark.
